Does God Speak?

It delights my soul when I encounter women who are hungry to grow in their relationship with the Lord.  In fact, the most rewarding part of my position as Director of Women’s Mentoring at STS is to see a woman’s life impacted by her knowledge of God.  I have the joy of witnessing countless women engage in a rich study of God’s word; they read, they think, they study, they ask, they ponder, they deliberate; and by God’s grace, they grow toward a greater knowledge of their Creator and Savior.  You might say that these women are eager to hear from God.

Discernment

A common question that comes to the Women’s Ministry Council is: “What are your  thoughtsabout (fill in the blank)?” That is, quite often women will ask the Council to evaluate a blog post, book, Bible Study, or speaker they have encountered in their personal pursuit of godliness. What a blessing it is to have a congregation of women hungry for God’s Word, who are seeking  to supplement their spiritual appetites beyond a Sunday morning sermon! And what a thrill it  isto hear of women’s desire to feed upon “good food” and avoid “empty calories” by seeking guidance.

Should Women Preach?

"Unfortunately, this seemingly simple inquiry is a loaded question. It is often asked in hopes of merely ascertaining one’s ecclesiastical position on women in ministry. Sadly, this question has become a tool with which to draw a line of division separating believers into two groups (complementarians and egalitarians). It is easy to see how one’s answer to this question can provide a catalyst for heated debate. Most assuredly, the question is important; but it is also controversial, and one that deserves serious attention today."
