Foundation Seminars

Foundation Seminars are short-term, content-driven courses designed to help you grow in a particular area of interest or need. These seminars help us comprehend the subtle intricacies and overarching truths of our God and the theology, ministry and history He has authored. Foundation Seminars are styled as lectures and discussion, with occasional reading assignments outside of class. Our vision for Foundation Seminars is to help adults acquire a comprehensive Christian education resulting in spiritual growth and service to God and others. Foundation Seminars are offered periodically. The topics below show you the types of courses we offer.

Church History: Reformation 500

Does the Reformation still matter today? As we celebrate the 500th anniversary of Martin Luther's 95 Theses, which sparked the reform movement, this class will spend 9 months taking a deep dive into the history of the Protestant Reformation. We will examine the historical context and the motivating factors that set the stage for the Reformation. We will learn how the Reformation dawned and spread through the courageous efforts of faithful reformers such as Wycliffe, Hus, Luther, Tyndale, Zwingli, Calvin and Knox. We will hear the stories of these great heroes of the faith as we take a historical tour of the Reformation through Europe, Great Britain, and ultimately to the shores of America. We will also focus on the "5 Solas" of the Reformation and look at how the Reformation has impacted our world today.
