Women's Equipping Seminar: Discernment Afternoon Session

Have you ever come across a Christian author, speaker, or blog post that seemed legit, but you weren't quite sure if what you were hearing/reading  lined up with your doctrinal position?    Perhaps a friend recommended a resource, but you're not certain if it would be a good fit for you?  With the plethora of Christian resources available today, how can you tell if what you are relying on is Scripturally sound?  In fact, one of the most frequent questions I am asked as Resource Advisor for Colonial Women's Ministry is "what do you think of this (book/blog/speaker/Bible Study)?"  The purpose of this seminar is to equip the women of Colonial Baptist Church to confidently evaluate Christian resources.  The focus will be three-fold:  1) provide instruction on the need to properly discern resources in light of the biblical text; 2) provide a systematic process of evaluating three specific resources (books, blogs and Bible studies); 3) discuss and evaluate several examples of resources commonly used in the Christian community today.

Hebrews 5:14
But solid food is for the mature, for those who have their powers of discernment trained by constant practice to distinguish good from evil.
