Anthony Schmidt was born in Mexico, but recognizes the Dallas area as his hometown since that is where he spent his childhood. In 1993, immediately after graduating from the University of Texas (Go Longhorns!), he accepted a position with a software company in Cary.

He feels blessed to have such a wonderful family. His wife, Kim, is a great inspiration to him through her walk with Christ, and that challenges him to always stay on the same path. He and Kim are dedicated to raising their three amazing boys (Caleb, Luke, and Asa) to grow up to be Christian men.

Anthony first came to faith in Christ in June 1998, shortly before the birth of their first son. He and Kim were living in Zurich, Switzerland for a year. At the church they were attending, one of the associate pastors invited Anthony to a Bible study on Acts. He has been captivated by God’s Word ever since.

The Schmidts began attending Colonial in 2002.  Since joining, they have been involved in ABFs where they have had opportunities to make many great friends, making the size of Colonial much less daunting.  Anthony has served in Hispanic ministries, Short Term Mission Trips to Mexico, Student Ministries, Children Ministries, and now AWANA and Middle School ministry.

Anthony says that he seems to have a new favorite scripture each week, depending on his situation at that moment. For him, scripture typically seems to be relevant in a way that he never noticed before. At the time of this writing, his favorite was Philippians 2:14-15: “Do all things without grumbling or disputing; that you may prove yourselves to be blameless and innocent, children of God above reproach in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you appear as lights in the world.”
