Seth Lynch grew up in the small rural town of Warsaw, New York, located on the west side of the state. He says that the county where he grew up had a higher population of cows than people; that worked out well for his father since he was a dairy veterinarian. Growing up going on Vet calls with his father showed him he was not cut out for veterinary medicine, so he left cow country for more fertile pastures in his chosen career of engineering. The Cary area has more opportunities in the engineering field, better weather, fewer cows, and his wife hails from Cary.
His wife, Allison, grew up going to Colonial and they met during their college years at Cedarville University. They have been married since 2005 and have one son, Braden. After living and working in Chicago for a couple of years, Seth took an engineering position with a company in Raleigh. The move to Raleigh allowed them to be closer to Allison's family and return to Colonial, while allowing him to continue his career doing new product development as a mechanical engineer.
God has blessed him by allowing him to grow up in a home where both his parents were born again believers and were committed to yielding their lives to God and His Word. From an early age, Seth was able to hear the truth of God's Word. He recognized his need for a Savior and accepted Christ as his personal Savior when he was 8 years old. Since that point, he has grown in his understanding of God's goodness and he looks forward to continued growth for better service.
Seth and Allison have been attending Colonial as a married couple since 2007. They are a part of the Couples Under Construction ABF. God has blessed them and grown them through this ABF. They have enjoyed serving with the committed believers in the class. He and Allison are also involved in men's and women's Bible studies, retreats, and training seminars. Growing up in Colonial, Allison has also participated in multiple short term mission trips.
Seth says that the ministry of Jeremiah, especially the call of Jeremiah in chapter 1, is one of his favorite passages of scripture. Jeremiah's fearful acceptance of God's call to be a prophet has had a profound impact on his life. Like Jeremiah, he often feels ill-equipped, inarticulate, or too young to serve God. However, God uses Jeremiah's admission of weakness to encourage, console, and confirm Jeremiah's calling. Jeremiah 1:7-8: “But the LORD said to me, Do not say, 'I am only a youth'; for to all to whom I send you, you shall go, and whatever I command you, you shall speak. Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you to deliver you, declares the LORD.” Seth says that he admires Jeremiah's commitment to serving God and an unrepentant people even though he sees limited reward from the people he serves
